Back in 2003 author Janet McDonald wrote this article expressing her displeasure with a reading she got from Sylvia Browne.

Most interesting is this quote.
>I wrapped it up with a question about my longevity.
"Oh, God, yes, a really long life," said the All Seeing One. "And thank God you won't be stupid or incapacitated. I don't mind living to be old as long as I'm not an idiot."
No danger there, Sylvia. I'm the idiot.<
Unfortunately Sylvia was wrong on that one too. Ms McDonald passed away this past April from cancer.

Another question from Stop Sylvia Browne is - Does Sylvia Browne Smoke?
The only reason this matters of course is that she has denied ever smoking on a number of occasions. As you will see numerous people including one reporter who was interviewing her before she added the e to Brown have witnessed her smoking.

This only goes to her over all credibility - or lack there of.

Mon, July 9, 2007 - 1:00 PMThe mantra that goes through her mind is: "Show me the money." -

Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Fri, January 25, 2008 - 1:36 PMI agree, she's wrong most of the time and just likes to hear herself talk. I've gotten different psychic impressions from questions people have asked her, and I knew she was wrong. I can't watch her because she wrongly gives people hope. -

Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 7:34 AMdose it matter if she is wrong or right? everyone messess up sometimes. there is not one person in the world that never sined and if you said that you never sined then your a lier and you just sined! -

Sat, February 2, 2008 - 7:45 AMDoes it matter if your doctor is wrong or right?
-
Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 7:49 AMIt matters because a close examination of her record shows she is consistently wrong yet there are those who blindly believe what she says in spite of the evidence to the contrary.
"If God did not want them shorn he would not have made them sheep."
Old grifters saying. -

Sat, February 2, 2008 - 9:02 AMLOL, ONCE AGAIN THIS FOR NON BELEAVERS. is this the paranormal research tribe or a fake non beleaf page i beleave the 1st one so why all the hater's? -

Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 10:05 AMI think you need to understand the definition of research. It does not mean blind belief.
It means a disciplined approach that seeks to strip away irrelevancy in hopes of getting closer to the truth.
Sylvia is only relevant in that she is a prime example of a predator who will exploit those who so willingly surrender their beliefs to one who claims to hold all the answers.

Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 10:09 AMAs I understand it, this tribe is for people who are interested in finding explanations for what we usually call "paranormal." Sure some people believe in spirits, and some don't. But I figured this was a forum for all of us to discuss and think about possible causes. I have never heard anyone before making statements about "believers" or "unbelievers." Personally, I suppose I can be called agnostic. I believe in the possiblity of the paranormal, but I expect it to be proven in a logically way. I don't respond to appeals to emotion. But I think blanket denials are just as bad as blanket belief. I remember hearing a quote when I was young. I might be butchering it, and I don't know who said it originally, but it went, "To believe everything and to deny everything are both equally convenient solutions. Both dispense with the necessity of thought." -

Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 10:40 AMIf you will read my posts you will see that I have not blindly denied anything. What I have tried to do is raise questions that should be raised.
I also feel that when it comes to someone who is so clearly a fraud that to should be pointed out.
That I appear to have a higher standard of proof than most in this tribe is clear - and something I am proud of. Now if someone could only come up with some evidence that passes Occams Razor. -

Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 10:49 AMMy statement was not a specific criticism of you, Joe. I feel that you've presented a logical view and I can respect that. I have followed several of your links concerning Sylvia Brown, and from everything I have read, and this includes newspaper reports, she appears to me to be a dangerous fraud that takes advantage of people. My response was a reply to the constant use of "believer" and "unbeliever" and to state what I think this group represents and to state my own philosophy. -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 1:31 PMI'll underline the idea that RESEARCH is perhaps more important than blind belief in the paranormal.
_Belief in a thing does not make that thing right._ It is unfortunate that some lack the cognitive ability to grasp this concept. Remember kids, stay in school.
So I'll ask again: Does it matter if your doctor is wrong or right? -
-
Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 8:38 AMThe obvious answer is yes. It does matter if a doctor is right concerning medicine. It does matter if a lawyer is right concerning law. It matters if a mechanic is right concerning autos. It matters when anyone who is an authority in a particular field is right or wrong. And Sylvia Brown claims to be an authority in the paranormal.
I figured no one answered the question directly because it was a no-brainer. -

Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 10:03 AMok but she did not go to jail for being a fraud she went to jail for grand theft auto ok soooooo unless you have prof of her being a fraud then your slandering her name and slander is agenst the law!!! -

Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 10:27 AMThe truth is a perfect defense against slander. That is why Sylvia has never sued any one who has called her a fraud.
Again the record is clear. Sylvia promised to psychically locate gold deposits. She sold shares in the venture. The marks got angry when Sylvia didn't pay them as promised. They filed charges. Sylvia pled NOLO - the same as a conviction. She had to pay restitution, fines and serve probation.
And she was not psychic enough to see it coming.
Her record otherwise is abominable.
Here she was standing next to a magician doing magic tricks and could not see it
www.stopsylviabrowne.com/artic....shtml
Here is an analysis of her record on missing persons and homicide cases.
www.stopsylviabrowne.com/artic....shtml
To quote from the sight.
>So far, Sylvia Browne's reading was largely wrong in every single one of the cases which were subsequently solved (and it should be noted that her readings apparently played no part in the cases being solved).,
>This does not coincide with Browne's oft-repeated claim that she has an "87% accuracy rating."<
And one of her cruelest frauds to date.
www.stopsylviabrowne.com/artic....shtml
For which she has not had the common decency to even apologize to the Hornbeck family.
So why again are you defending this person? As a believer I should think you would want to get rid of frauds like her.

Re: Once Again Sylvia Blows It
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 10:40 AMsee i did not read that, sorry if i had then your right to claim her as a fraud! and yes i would like to see her behind bars!!!! but there are alot of psychic's out there that will do a reading and not get a clear pic like for example let's say your getting a reading and a psychic say's your going to take a trip and your going to fly and then tells you the plain is going to go down. so you cansul the flight so you think your safe right then lets say a month or even a year later you take a trip on a plain and it go's down. you see thay can see what is going to happen but not always when!
